Winter

A charge of emotions for the whole year

Virgin snow, imposing peaks, cosy mountain huts and perfectly prepared ski and snowboard slopes – here are some good reasons for spending your winter holidays in the Dolomites.

The ski area of Alta Badia, surrounded by some of the most beautiful peaks of the Dolomites, ensures a comprehensive winter experience with really impressive figures: 130 km of local ski slopes and a direct access to other 500 km with a single Dolomiti Superski pass. To get into this winter paradise, just take the cable car of Piz Sorega, located 1 km away from the Apart-Hotel and B&B Ai Pini in San Cassiano (easily reachable with a private shuttle). Alta Badia is the place where every skier feels at ease: beginners can improve their technique on numerous blue slopes, while experts can enjoy breath-taking black runs approved for FIS competitions. Sellaronda is a real must. But don't miss the opportunity to explore the other ski tours as well, such as the First World War Tour, the Tour of Lagazuoi and the Super8 Ski Tour leading towards Cortina d'Ampezzo – at the reception desk of your Apart-Hotel and B&B Ai Pini you can book a taxi to the Falzarego Pass, avoiding long waiting times in Armentarola.

Those who are looking for some fun on the slopes, will find lots of it in the winter Movimënt Parks, including the snow park Alta Badia. And those who are fond of powder snow, can enjoy some freeride in the area above Armentarola, accessible with the help of mountain lifts or with climbing skins, starting from the Valparola Pass. For more challenging ski touring routes it is highly recommended to book an experienced mountain guide – for reservations at special prices please apply to the reception desk of your Apart-Hotel and B&B Ai Pini in San Cassiano. In any case, our "in-house" ski instructors Anita and Davide Vittur (Ski & Snowboard School Dolomites) remain at your complete disposal for any information or advice.

Though skiing in Alta Badia is available not only in the mountains but also in the valley – just 2 km away from the Apart-Hotel and B&B Ai Pini in San Cassiano there is the Alta Badia Cross-Country Ski Centre with a biathlon area, where you can practise Nordic skiing in both classic and skating versions. The Cross-Country Ski School is also a point of reference for guided snowshoe tours. And if you want to try something else, discover the charm of winter trekking – picturesque groomed trails will lead you from the Apart-Hotel and B&B Ai Pini in San Cassiano towards La Villa and Corvara, or through the charming scenery of Malga Valparola and through the meadows of Störes.
